Lloyd Bean STEM Scholarship

The “Lloyd Bean Student STEM Scholarship” was established in 2019 in partnership with Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Gamma Iota Boulé to increase minority representation in professional careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  The Fraternity and Gamma Iota Boulé Foundation aim to provide financial assistance to help defray costs of attending college to a deserving graduating high school senior who:

  • Has demonstrated superior academic achievement [at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA];
  • Has volunteered regularly, demonstrated good moral standards, and made significant contributions while in high school in various community activities that support the pursuit of excellence;
  • Has been admitted to an accredited college or university;
  • Will be pursuing academics and a future in a STEM area;
  • Is a United States citizen or legal resident;
  • Attended high school in one of the following counties: Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne.
Candidate selection will be conducted by the Advancement of Education Committee based upon all listed criteria and then recommended to the GIB Foundation Board of Trustees for final approval. Student selection must maintain gender diversity ratio (cumulative recipient demographic ratio for both female and male never below 33%).
