Alvaro Martins HBCU Student Scholarship

The “Alvaro Martins HBCU Student Scholarship” was established in 2024 in partnership with
Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Gamma Iota Boulé to provide financial assistance to help defray costs of attending college to a deserving graduating high school senior or existing college or
university undergraduate student who:

  • Has demonstrated superior academic
    achievement;
  • Has volunteered regularly and made significant contributions in various
    community activities that support the pursuit of excellence;
  • Is currently attending or
    has been admitted and enrolled full-time at an accredited HBCU;
  • Is a United States citizen or legal resident;

 

Eligible applicants must be currently attending or admitted for full-time enrollment at HBCU, be a United States citizen or legal resident, and have a permanent address in one of the following counties: Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, or Wayne.

Candidate selection will be conducted by Gamma Iota Boulé Foundation based upon all listed criteria and then recommended to Excellus BCBS for final approval.

Student selection will maintain gender diversity ratio (cumulative recipient demographic ratio for both female and male never below 30%) ($2,000 each)
